What follows is a faithful account of the production of Issue 6 (taking place the evening of March 5/early morning of March 6) as witnessed by me, The Pioneer’s Editor-in-Chief.

4:57 p.m.: An ongoing discussion about common themes of the Live Blog reminds me (Managing Editor Pam) to start the Live Blog!

5:00 p.m.: Sports PA Marianne expresses to Production Manager Sean that her page is a disaster. I guess having drop caps on EVERY single paragraph is not exactly what we want…

5:02 p.m.: Opinion Editor Kyle tells Sean about a good grade he got in Music Theory today – yea Kyle!

5:03 p.m.: Editor-in-Chief Shelly educates us on what being “cool” means.

5:31 p.m.: Sean and Kyle educate the newsroom on the craziness going on in Russia and Ukraine right now.

6:00 p.m.: Sports Editor Quin arrives and shows me an adorable picture of Brazilian soccer player Neymar taking photos with a little kid who ran on the field during Brazil’s friendly this afternoon.

6:12 p.m.: Marianne and Feature PA Jess combine their talents of identification (or creeping) to figure out who is in photos for A&E and Sports.

6:15 p.m.: Humor writer Tara, filling in this week for Humor Editor Molly, comes in to write headlines. Pio staffers helping Pio staffers!

6:23 p.m.: SPORTS MAKES DEADLINE.

6:34 p.m.: Jess leaves with these instructions for us: “if the pizza comes in the next 15 minutes, somebody text me.”

6:35 p.m.: Kyle says he doesn’t think Shelly and I would come to a party even if he invited us personally…we took offense.

6:40 p.m.: ATTENTION IN THE NEWSROOM. WE HAVE PIZZA. Thanks to former EIC Rachel and former Managing Editor Libby!

7:33 p.m.: Hitting that copy editing lull…

8:31 p.m.: First rounds of copy editing nearly finished, some pages are already done! Although the late start on Opinion may keep us from beating last week’s finish-time record.

11:07 p.m.: Haven’t posted in a while…well we’re getting closer!

11:26 p.m.: And then there were three (Sean, Shelly and me) to check over pages.
