Recently, my friends and I started a brand new Minecraft world. It’s much easier thinking about the awesome things that we’re gonna build than thinking about the finals that we haven’t been studying for. Everything is perfect in our Minecraft world. We’ve explored the world, killed the Ender Dragon and enjoyed our new civilization under my revolutionary leadership.

Like any society, our Minecraft server needed a government. While my friends were busy building their houses and mining for diamonds, I took that responsibility into my own hands. My first decree? Give your new incredibly handsome, funny and smart ruler a taste of your freshly mined diamonds. How else will our society be able to afford decadent statues to celebrate my accomplishments?

If you also just started a Minecraft server, you may be realizing that you too need a corrupt government to guide you to success. This is your opportunity to make the change that you want to see in the world. Let me tell you just how it’s done.

Firstly, consider what you have available to you. Unlike the real world, in Minecraft you won’t have big corporations to fund your agenda. Instead, take advantage of intimidation techniques to get what you want. A diamond sword to the face will do the trick. Remember, you’re still just playing Minecraft, it’s all fun and games.

Second, create something beautiful. You are the leader of a great and powerful government, and you can do whatever you like. Decorate your house with diamond blocks, eat golden carrots while your people eat potatoes and remind the world of your success. If someone speaks out, or tries to step out of line, just remind them of your newly enchanted diamond sword.

In all honesty, it can be difficult to lead a government in Minecraft. But it’s not like someone could buy their way into positions of power and lavishly decorate their house with tax dollars in the real world, right? So take this opportunity while you have it.
