You may be shocked by what I’m about to tell you, but take a deep breath. Recent studies have shown that microplastics are accumulating in people’s bodies at a level never before seen. Many people, understandably, are fearful of the implications of such studies. Who knows what the presence of large amounts of microplastics in one’s blood will do?
Truth be told, I am not afraid. I’m content with the fact that I spent my early years gnawing on anything within reach— which was, more often than not, plastic toys. If there was a leaderboard for the most microplastics in one’s body, I bet that I’d be in the top 100.
I know what you’re thinking, “What about all of the microplastics in our food, in the water and in the air?” To that, I’d say this – “What about sunshine, rainbows and happiness?” There is so much love in my heart, why should I care about boring bits of plastic? Maybe microplastics are “dangerous,” but maybe my heart is just too big for something so small. So what if they found someone with one billion microplastics in their brain, I bet I have one billion ounces of love in my heart.
Maybe you still have fears about the consequences of microplastics. Can microplastics cause cancer? Can microplastics clog up my veins and arteries? Can microplastics stop my whimsy? In all honesty, most people’s bodies are filled with microplastics, and we ingest more every single day. But I wouldn’t let that stop you. Why settle for mediocre? If you start today, by the time you die, you could easily have thousands more microplastics in your body than anyone you know.
After we die, we can either be remembered for being loving, caring and kind individuals or for having so many microplastics in our bodies that we end up in all the major headlines. I plan on being both. I’ll be loaded with microplastics and full of love. That could be you, too.
