As a writer for The Wire, it is my responsibility to maintain journalistic integrity through speaking only the informed truth of matters. However, to also maintain journalistic integrity, I must remain politically unbiased in my reporting. But in these trying times, where hard and honest facts are so fleeting, I must instead resolve to speak the facts of my mind, even if confined to these tenants of integrity. Those facts, in summary, are as follows. I’m not terribly fond of the politics of today.
The climate that pervades much of our political landscape is leading to very unfortunate and poorly thought decisions, to put it lightly. These decisions put a relatively noticeable pinch of doubt into the collective confidence of many representatives. And while such can be said of both parties, it is clear to many, though not all regrettably, that it is the one commanding the nation that is most often at fault.
Many of these unwise decisions result in the physical and mental irritation of a large portion of the populace. To put it lightly, these irritants come in the form of financial strain, laxing regulations, public safety risks, flawed policies and a general feeling of unease for oneself. Most notably, these trends further contribute to an unspoken policy of self-monitoring one’s work to not offend certain individuals or groups of significant authority, which I am currently advised to keep unmentioned.
As you may all see, these very specific trends with very specific sources contribute to what we in the journalistic world may call “unpleasant times.” How someone is to reduce the risk of the unpleasantries that define this point of history are many and varied. However, due to the nature of such means, I am obliged to recommend that you, dear reader, look them up for your own relief.
And now, as a privilege of my service to journalistic integrity, I give you my unedited and honest opinion… Trans rights are human rights, abolish the wage gap, climate change is real, be kind to each other and Architect’s Crest is the best Crest in Silksong. See you next week.
