After a rough day in classes, it’s nice to sit down with a cold drink. But what about a drink specifically tailored to your studies? After careful analysis, we have found these eight majors’ next drink of choice.
Psychology: Gin and Tonic
Unofficial research has shown that drinking this classic drink can cause utter joy in the human hippocampus.
5 oz tonic water
1 lime wedge
History: Scotch on the Rocks
After a hard day of analytical thinking, it’s good to settle down with a simple drink. This drink just happens to be as dry as all those historiographies you have to read.
4-5 large ice cubes
Astronomy: Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey
Burnt out on studying massive fireballs in space? Take a shot of one instead.
2 oz Fireball Whiskey
Fill a whimsical shot glass of your choice with whiskey, then plug your nose and go for it. Be sure to savor the aftertaste.
Geology: Beer
To quote a professor, “Here’s a beer bottle for scale.” You’re essentially camping while doing field work. You might as well have a beer or two.
6-pack of Alaska Amber Ale
Be sure to remember your Swiss Army Knife so you can get the bottles open.
Philosophy: Red Wine
Swirl your glass as you contemplate an existential topic of your choice.
1 bottle of 14 Hands Pinot Noir
Pour the wine into a wine glass. Swirl so the wine can oxygenate a little before you drink it.
English: Tom Collins
To cure writer’s block, try a drink that sounds like a character in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.
1 oz lemon juice
1 tsp superfine sugar
3 oz club soda
1 maraschino cherry or sliced strawberry
1 slice orange
In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the gin, lemon juice and sugar. Shake well. Strain into a tall glass. Add the club soda. Stir and garnish with the cherry or strawberry and the orange slice.
Studio Art: Cosmopolitan
Let the bright color of this drink inspire your future masterpiece. Or, you know, you could just Instagram it.
0.25 oz triple sec
1 oz cranberry juice
Music: Champagne
Toast to the end of form and analysis, senior recitals and aural skills with a goblet of $5 bubbly. You won’t be needing them anytime soon, anyway.
1 bottle of nicely cheap champagne
Pour champagne into a fancy goblet. Do not attempt to have a jam session.
