Style Soundbites
“Pretty much about three quarters of the things I own in the way of clothing are my mom’s. This belt is my mom’s from the ’80s; it’s just a gold chain that she used to wear around her waist. This necklace with the charms on it is also my mom’s. My jacket I got in Seattle at a vintage consignment store––I pretty much buy everything used or on eBay. My shoes are the only thing that I own that I bought firsthand; I got them at Walla Walla Clothing Company.”
“This shirt is my mom’s also. My glasses, I got on Zenni Optical, which is like a cheap glasses website. My purse is from a vintage store in Kansas City and it’s fake Chanel.”
“I know it might probably not look like this, but [my fashion philosophy] is utility––whatever is most comfortable for me in terms of the weather; I don’t like to be cold. I don’t like to buy things new, because when they fall apart I get really disappointed, and for environmental reasons. I really like gold, and gold chains––as much as possible. I really like the way a lot of Indian street style hipsters in India dress right now, which is like a lot of patterns, gold––very flashy.”
