On Thursday, Nov. 13, Shawn Vestal will give a talk as part of Whitman’s Visiting Writers Reading Series. Vestal will talk about his writing which includes a collection of short stories named “Godforsaken Idaho†and his memoir “A.K.A. Charles Abbott.â€
Premier nature writer Barry Lopez spoke in Maxey Auditorium on September, 12th. Students, teachers, and community members listened eagerly as read passages from his works, as well as shared his thoughts on climate change and the environment.
On Thursday, Oct. 25, Whitman’s Visiting Writers Reading Series welcomed poet and Rutgers University professor Brenda Shaughnessy to Kimball Theatre to a small but lively audience.
On Thursday, April 12, the next installment of Whitman's Visiting Writers Reading Series will take place at 7:00 p.m. in Kimball Auditorium. The event will feature readings from Suzanne Buffam and Srikanth Reddy, both of whom teach at the University of Chicago in addition to writing and publishing poetry and other works.
