Coffeehouse Open Mic Night
Bring your poems, your guitars, your stand-up act or just your body and enjoy Whitman’s finest talent. Part of Coffeehouse’s more local and student-focused late night specials, Open Mic is open to all students wishing to perform. The show starts on Friday, Sept. 17th, and runs from 9-11 p.m. Email [email protected] before Thursday if you wish to perform. Free.
BSU “Bling Bling” Dance
Starting the semester off with an old school urban hip-hop theme, Whitman’s Black Student Union hosts the “Bling Bling” Dance Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. in the Reid Ballroom. Grab your pals and iced-out accessories, and jam to some old school beats.
Fridays at Four
Come hear the Dave Glenn Jazz Septet featuring selections from “National Pastime,” composed by Dave Glenn, on Sept. 17 in Kimball Theatre.
Live @ Sapolil Cellars Presents Son Jack Jr. and Michael Wilde
Advertised as “gritty, earthy delta and Hill Country Blues,” Son Jack Jr. and Michael Wilde hail from Seattle and will perform at Sapolil Cellars on Friday, Sept. 17 from 8-11 p.m. So, if Coffeehouse Open Mic is not your thing, or if you want to get a dose of Walla Walla nightlife, purchase your tickets via phone or in person. $10.
Milenko Matanovic Presents: “Art, Creativity, and Social Change.”
The founder of the artistic/community betterment program Pomegranate Center, Milenko Matanovic will discuss the 2010 Dig Fund Project alongside his presentation. Combining art with social change, Matanovic seeks to facilitate open-air projects and to impact community and culture. This event will take place tonight in Olin 130 at 7:30 p.m.
