The 27-1 Whitman Blues men's basketball team glided past visiting Schreiner University 87-77 in NCAA Round 1 action Friday night. The Blues, ranked #1 all season in the D3hoops.com rankings, will face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the second round of the national tournament Saturday night. Earlier Friday, CMS ended Whitworth's season in dramatic fashion with an 83-82 edge. The Whitworth Pirates had entered the tournament ranked #2 on D3hoops.com, having seized the NWC Tournament title from Whitman in a buzzer beater last weekend.
