Latinos can only hope for the best now; they are between a Democratic Party that has not changed the immigration laws significantly and a Republican congress with many Tea Party members that are against immigration.
After months of field work and synthesis, the student researchers from Whitman's State of the State for Washington Latinos class presented their findings and recommendations today, February 16.
Whitman's State of the State class, which has existed since 2005, does community research on a variety of issues affecting Washington Latinos, including political participation, immigration policy and bilingual education in Walla Walla schools.
