Student Engagement Center helps students find jobs, internships

On the top floor of Reid is a resource center that is prepared to help Whitman students through nearly every stage of their working life. With one-on-one advising, the Student Engagement Center (SEC) helps Whitman students throughout their lives to find community service opportunities, internships and careers that align with their specific interests and values.

Intercultural Center on-campus OP trip a success despite low turnout

Every semester, the Intercultural Center (ICC) sponsors an Outdoor Program (OP) trip as a way to encourage communication and community within the multi-cultural and international students on campus. This year, the ICC decided to try something new: sponsoring an on-campus OP trip. The trip took place on Sunday, Oct. 16, and consisted of both kayaking in the pool and climbing at the Climbing Center.

CCC hopes to install dual-flush toilets across campus

Promoting sustainability on a college campus requires long-term change. The beginning of a new wave can be seen today in the restrooms of Reid Campus Center—and the people who started it are confident it can spread. The change began last year, when a committee within Campus Climate Challenge (CCC) installed dual-flush toilets in the women's restrooms at Reid.

While some students worry about gaining the Freshman 15 when they head off to college, other students with food allergies or intolerances are more focused on whether the dining halls will provide food that will keep them healthy. Of the nearly 800 students who are on a meal plan, many of them need to address daily the task of getting enough to eat. In the dining hall environment, this can prove to be difficult.
