Record Bike Thefts Plague Campus

The first four weeks of school have seen a record-number of bike thefts on campus, according to Whitman Campus Security. Security Officers and the Walla Walla Police Department have received reports of bikes being stolen from all over campus, ranging everywhere from North Hall to Anderson Hall, as well as at off-campus houses.

There have been five bike thefts reported on the Whitman campus in the past week, a large enough number to warrant a timely warning from Dean of Students Chuck Cleveland and the Whitman Security Office. According to Walla Walla Police Public Information Officer Tim Bennett, stolen bikes often go unrecovered....
