Dear Gabriela,
It makes me sad that you feel so poorly towards the Whitman College Greek system, an institution that I am so grateful for. In an effort to try and change your opinion I would like to extend to you (and anyone else that might have serious concerns about the Greek system) an invitation to join some of my friends and I at our house (it’s called Phi Delta Theta) for a meal of your choice (I usually like dinner @ 6:00pm quite a bit) on any day of your choosing (technically we only have house dinners Monday through Thursday). I remember stating that I didn’t care for the Greek system when beginning Whitman-I would very much like to show you how easy people’s minds are changed when they get to know us. If/when you accept my (me, as a Whittie, as an individual, without any help from my friends) invitation, and I genuinely hope you do, I don’t know if we’ll amaze you or anything like that because I’m sure normal college students don’t do that to most people very often. But I do believe Whitman College administration knows what it’s doing. After all, we weren’t Greek before Whitman, which is quite different to some of the larger universities in the country that you may be thinking of.
Sincerely,
Carl “proud to be a Phi” Garp Duvall
