Breaking news: Student tests positive for COVID-19, brings total to 8 cases on campus

One Whitman student located in Walla Walla tested positive for COVID-19 this week. Whitman College was notified of the case on Tuesday, Nov. 24, according to Director of Communications Gina Ohnstad.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Whitman College community to six staff and two student cases since March. The most recent cases occurred the week of Nov. 9, when the College was notified of four staff cases and one student case.

Ohnstad said that there is no indication of campus transmission.

The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health has completed the contact tracing for the Nov. 24 case. According to Ohnstad, Whitman has contacted all community members who may have been exposed based on the information from the contact tracing process. 

According to Ohnstad, there have been no positive test results administered on Whitman equipment as of Wednesday, Nov. 25.
