As we near the end of the Spring Semester, Whitman is eager to rest from the long and eventful year here. Many plans are already in order for the summer, and we want to share a few. Thanks to an online poll The Wire conducted earlier this month, we have gathered the Top 5 things that many of us shall be doing this summer in order of highest to lowest appearance, as a capstone for this year of The Wire.
- Hibernating. Many students are pooped by all the recent happenings and just desire deep sleep. Many students will only be awake for at most a week for the whole summer, only eating, watching a few movies and texting.
- Worrying about next semester’s classes. Even after we’re registered for our next classes, there’s always the lingering fear of being unprepared. Given how these seem to only get harder and harder, a little bit of concern is entirely natural. Of course, seniors won’t have to worry about that… right?
- Fighting against the oligarchy. We’ve already been seeing a lot of protests and displays of resistance against the increasingly totalitarian acts of the current administration. Just because it’s sunny and you don’t have essays, doesn’t mean people will stop pushing back against them. All I’ll say is, if you are one of those people, keep up the good fight!
- Binge watching. It’s by far the biggest waste of time that a person can indulge in the modern day, and I don’t blame them. Sometimes, all you need is a couch, a bag of snacks and a few hours to spend watching something to be content.
- Genuinely enjoying summer. While not always an option, it is something that one can at least strive to achieve. Go out, smell the flowers, enjoy the sun and live in the sweet moments. You won’t regret it… unless you have allergies. If so, do so in moderation.
