Best of 2017-2018: The Forgotten Residence Hall

Rebecca Gluck, Tool

In the midst of the construction of the sophomore residence hall on campus, you may not have noticed that another dorm was recently completed. Designed for fifth- and sixth-year students, this new hall is comprised of twenty brightly colored yurts, which are portable tents originally used by nomads. Yurt residents travel aimlessly across Ankeny between 4 and 5am with their yurts on their backs. Some students have likened this to hermit crabs scurrying across the beach, but note that Yurters are much more sensual. If you’ve had the pleasure of experiencing a Yurt-clad student, you will no doubt agree that they were the highlight of your school year, if not your entire life.
