Live Blog Issue 12

Live+Blog+Issue+12

The diligent Pioneer editors and PAs are back after giving thanks with their families and loved ones and have turned their collective attention to putting together Issue 12, our second-to-last issue of the semester. This is certainly a bittersweet moment, as it means I only have one more of these live blogs to put together this year! You’ll be subject to my replacement and his/her musings throughout next semester, so get ready for that!

4:45 PM: A good turnout so far, most sections are being worked on by the PAs, and editors have started streaming in to write headlines, captions, and make sure the page looks perfect before it goes to print.

5:11 PM: The Pio Editors are feverishly working on the applications for available jobs next semester. Check on the website soon for a post regarding those openings and their applications. Additionally and way more importantly, the snacks are here.

6:00 PM: The Pio Office has settled down considerably now, as most of the PAs and Section Editors are eating dinner. Sarah Cornett, our EIC extraordinaire, diligently observes the newsroom, waiting and watching with a keen eye to ensure the paper is up to her standards. IMAG0611

7:07 PM: Sarah leaves, Marra will leave soon, I’m now in charge of making sure Anthony (copy editor) doesn’t delete the entire paper.

7:25 PM: An inevitable part of production night is the continual reading of many articles around the internet about the events of this week throughout the country. This is an interesting article that, while not representing the views of the Pioneer as a whole, can give some good ideas about changes to our gun laws.

7:30 PM: Food for thought: when you have a hairless cat, is it important to put lotion on it?

8:04 PM: According to Anthony, I am now his father figure. I don’t know if this is a good idea…but okay.

9:47 PM: This Production night is definitely wrapping up…the wonderful copy editors are almost done checking over every article and a few of the pages are already in PDF form and ready to be sent off to the printer. Check back tomorrow around noon for the paper!
