Andréa Gilroy-Comics Studies in classroom

Comics studies scholar and instructor in the University of Oregon’s Comics Studies Minor Andrea Gilroy discusses how to bring comics into the classroom. This is a public event, and all who are interested in comic studies and teaching comics are encouraged to attend.

Big Love
Written by Charles Mee, Directed by Christopher Petit; Big Love is a play based on Aeschylus’s The Suppliants, involving about fifty brides who flee to a manor in Italy to avoid marrying their fifty cousins. Evening performances start promptly at 8:00 pm, matinees at 2:00 pm. House will open one-half hour before curtain.

Whitman College Fridays at Four Recital Series Presents the Oregon Guitar Quartet
Oregon Guitar Quartet’s members, Mario Diaz, John Mery, Jesse McCann, and Bryan Johanson, are some of the best players in Portland, Oregon, and have been playing and recording together for nearly a decade. This event will premier a new work by Bryan Johanson.

Featuring the Whitman Wind Ensemble, directed by Gary Gemberling; the Whitman Jazz Ensemble, directed by Doug Scarborough; the Whitman Chamber Singers and Chorale, conducted by Miles Canaday; the Whitman Orchestra, conducted by Paul Luongo. This event is free and open to the public.
