It's been more than a year since the large colorful Octopus mural was painted in front of the Inland Octopus toy store. As of this week, the fines against the mural that have been accruing at $100 a day since October 14, 2010, will exceed $35,000.
Currently the store's owner, Bob Catsiff, and the city are waiting to take the mural case to state Supreme Court, bypassing the appeals court because of the case's constitutional nature. It will be about year before the case is reviewed by the state Supreme Court.
