On Thursday, Feb. 27, Whitman Events Board hosted the headlining artist Sol featuring Skizzy Mars and Sam Lachow. Hosting big concerts at Whitman proves difficult, due to its being a small institution a few hours away from any metropolitan cities like Seattle and Portland.
Over Thanksgiving break, I got to listen to a lot of Seattle music. On Wednesday, I went to see the Seattleite rapper Sol along with a bunch of other local rappers. On Friday, I saw Pearl Jam in Spokane in their penultimate show before they ended their tour in Seattle, where they started out decades ago.
On Saturday, March 3, Seattle-based hip-hop artist Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis will play a sold-out show in the ballroom of Reid Campus Center. The concert, which was only announced last week, generated a massive response, with students camping out in line to secure one of only 500 tickets.
