Members of GlobeMed performed the original production Burma Voices on Friday, April 10. The event consisted of a series of monologues about the country's long period of rule by a military junta, based on the testimonies of Burmese people.

The GlobeMed club at Whitman is an organization headed by co-presidents Katherine Runkel and Arika Wieneke that raises awareness about global health issues through hosting educational events around campus. They also fund-raise for their partner organization Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) in Thailand.

GlobeMed Thailand trip raises international unaccompanied student travel questions

This summer, three Whitman students will travel to Thailand to work on a women’s health project. As members of GlobeMed, they have partnered with a group called the Burmese Women’s Union, which strives to empower Burmese refugees living in Thailand.

Lasting community partnerships in global development bring mutually beneficial results

By developing partnerships, we can forge long-term relationships with communities, rather than the “one-night stand” often used by volunteers. Working together will allow us to go far in the global development movement. Students bring GlobeMed chapter to Whitman

Whitman students Colleen Bell and Kaitlan Benner have started a new GlobeMed chapter at Whitman. GlobeMed is a network of university students across the United States who partner with grassroots organizations around the world to improve the health of people living in poverty.
