November 15, 2024 — Student protesters have gathered again at Three Rivers Winery, where students say the Board of Trustees has moved the day’s meetings. Previously, the Board was set to meet at Memorial Building. Three members of the Sheriff’s Office—Corporal Jared Brown, Deputy Sheriff Camden Costello, and Sergeant Kevin Mass—are on the scene, along with Dr. John Johnson and Greg Powell. Dr. Johnson has been speaking with student observers.
Johnson told protesters that Board members are unwilling to speak with students.
One protester told The Wire that students plan to stay until ordered by police to disperse.
Protesters are chanting at the entrance to the Winery. Officers have pushed them away from blocking the Winery entrance, and have repeatedly warned students against standing on the road’s fog line.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that it was the Winery’s Operations Manager who called them to respond this morning at 7:50 am and both times last night.
Protesters have left the scene and say they do not plan to return.
