On Wednesday, Apr. 15, students gathered to honor 147 Kenyan university students killed by terrorist group Al-Shabaab. The vigil was organized by the Beyond Borders Club, the Whitman African Students’ Association, the Intercultural Center, and the Associated Students of Whitman College. Faith Nyakundi ’17, an international student from Kenya, spoke about the effect the attack and others like it have had on her life, family and friends. Following the student speakers, attendees lit candles, one for each victim of the attack. After the vigil, students congregated at the Glover Alston Center for a discussion.
