Anti-Racism Coalition Prepares for Spring

Efforts by students, staff and faculty to confront racism on campus have continued after the rally against racism and other recent events. Student organizers have come together to form the Coalition Against Racism Everywhere, and the Intercultural Center is bringing civil rights leader Diane Nash, one of the lead organizers of the Freedom Riders campaign, to campus for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Olga Loya’s stories bring multicultural spice to campus

Olga Loya, a nationally known storyteller, will be coming to campus, performing Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Olin 130 at 7:00 p.m. Loya's style incorporates weaves together Spanish and English, and also blends history, myth, and tradition.

A series of events sponsored by the Intercultural Center and the Black Student Union were held to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Starting on Jan. 9 and culminating in a lecture by King's colleague, Samuel McKinney on Thursday, Jan. 26, the events are designed to give the student body an opportunity to learn more about Dr. King's work and the Civil Rights Movement as a whole.

Intercultural Center on-campus OP trip a success despite low turnout

Every semester, the Intercultural Center (ICC) sponsors an Outdoor Program (OP) trip as a way to encourage communication and community within the multi-cultural and international students on campus. This year, the ICC decided to try something new: sponsoring an on-campus OP trip. The trip took place on Sunday, Oct. 16, and consisted of both kayaking in the pool and climbing at the Climbing Center.
