I retired from the University of Washington and recently moved to the Odd Fellows Retirement Community. On a walk through the Whitman campus, I was picking up leaves to press and keep. A co-ed approached and I said, “I wish I could have a bright red leaf from that tree.” She said, “I think I can do that.” Before I knew it, she leaped up, grabbed a branch, walked her feet up the trunk, and bent a branch down so I could reach a leaf. Then she jumped down and said, “There!”
I think I was too startled to say thank you, so I want to say “Thank you, Tree Climber; I don’t think anyone at the UW would have done that!”
