On Thursday, April 18, a large mass of Whitman students came together to protest rape culture. The event was called Take Back the Night and was organized by Feminists Advocating for Change and Empowerment (FACE), a campus club. Students marched from Reid through campus to Cordiner. At Cordiner there was a hour-long open-mic session. Sexual assault survivors were invited to share feelings and experiences. Last, participants were invited to “chalkupy” campus – use sidewalk chalk to write responses to the event on campus pathways. Photographer Brennan Johnson brings us these photos.
