Gearing up for Regionals this week and weekend, the Whitman women’s tennis team looks to have an even stronger showing than last year and move on to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA tournament. One player the team will likely be able to count on to earn points is junior Courtney Lawless.

First-year Claire Revere came into Whitman already boasting one Junior National team appearance and this year, she made the team once again. Following a written application process, Revere was selected to go to the physical tryouts at the west coast location and was selected from the 80 girls chosen to attend the physical tryouts for a spot on the team.
The Whitman Baseball team has come further and amassed more wins in the last two seasons than any Whitman Baseball team in the last 40 years. Recording 16 total wins last season was the winningest season for Whitman Baseball since 1975 and this season they have already surpassed that tally with three games to go.
Despite losing his goggles earlier in the morning preliminaries, and seeding 6th, Mering was in a good place come the finals. “I was feeling pretty relaxed and confident. I knew that I had a good race in me. I didn’t know if I was going to execute perfectly, but I felt like I had it,†said Mering. Although the race wasn’t over until Mering touched the wall at 47.91 seconds, Collins, watching impatiently, was confident that her teammates would take home the title after just a few strokes.

Life on the Whitman men's golf team has not been easy as of late. The team has had to deal with horrible weather, defecting players, and a conference that ranks as one of the best in the country. Despite these challenges, the Missionaries still believe that they can overcome anything their tough situation throws at them.
Following a close loss to the Whitworth Pirates in the Northwest Conference Championship, there were doubts whether the previously undefeated, previously #1 nationally ranked Missionaries Women’s Basketball team was the real deal. If their Friday night performance in the first round of the NCAA D3 Playoffs against Chapman is any indication of their ability, any of those doubts should’ve been promptly silenced.
The Whitman Baseball program has certainly had its share of ups and downs, and the recent success has really been something new to the older players on the team, who endured two consecutive four win seasons in 2011 and 2012. Last year, the team went 16-22 after a coaching change and re-envisioning of the program as a whole. For outfielder Kyle Moyes, his senior season is one he has been looking forward to since arriving at Whitman. Not only is this season one more chance to make his mark on the program, but its also one where he has the age and experience to inspire his teammates and be a leader on the team.
