Update 4:25 p.m.

Trump has made wild and unfounded allegations that Biden and the Democrats are trying to “rig” votes and steal the election.

However, there is no evidence that any cheating or voter fraud is taking place. Trump’s questioning of the legitimacy of the U.S. election is merely indicative of his disappointment that the will of the American people has proved stronger that the institutions of voter suppression that he was relying on to win him the election.

By questioning the validity of the elections in Pennsylvania and Georgia, President Trump is hoping to appeal to his base and force the decision on the presidency to the courts in a last attempt to salvage his campaign. And while some of his supporters threaten places where votes are being counted, no state has stopped the count.

As the Atlantic stated this morning, “Not for the first time in his presidency… Trump has run up against something he cannot control.”

This is a legitimate election, and all votes must and will be counted.

Update 3:10 a.m.

Coverage Update: The Election Coverage Team is taking a break due to a lack of additional information on battleground states including Wisconsin, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. We will start updating this page again midday Wednesday, or when any large changes occur.

Update 2:41 a.m.

Biden is 7331 votes ahead in Wisconsin, with primarily mail in ballots left to count.

Update 1:44 a.m.

According to CNN, Biden is down by 98,000 in Wisconsin, following the update from Kenosha. There are 170,00 outstanding votes to be reported in Milwaukee, from voters that are likely to be very blue. If Biden receives 80 percent of those ballots he nets 102,000 out of the 170,000 outstanding, giving him the lead in the state.

Update 12:56 a.m.

12:55 a.m. — Coverage Update: Mail-in ballots will continue to be counted on Wednesday in many key states. Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Green Bay and other cities are still waiting to count ballots. In Pennsylvania, a state likely to become a legal battleground, there are a large number of uncounted ballots from counties including Philadelphia, Allegheny and Montgomery. Given these gaps in election numbers, there will be no clear winner tonight, and a decisive answer may take some time. Though Trump has claimed victory and declared his intention to stop additional votes from being counted, these statements are false and do not reflect either the American voting system or the will of the American people.

By emphasizing particular numbers of votes, rather than percentages, Trump attempted to exaggerate his lead in important swing states such as Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina. He repeated, “I want the voting to stop.”
