Whitman students, faculty and locals interested in feminist history had the opportunity on Tuesday, April 17 to meet family historian Stephanie Coontz. Coontz delivered an hour-long lecture in Olin Hall on the misconception of gender roles and the family unit of the 1960s.

New interest suites to help upperclassmen engage in campus community

"Interest suites" are being introduced as a new housing option for Whitman upperclassmen. An interest suite is a group of eight students who have a common interest and want to share it with the campus. The suites will be housed in Douglas Hall.

Whitman College recently released its student fees for the 2012-2013 academic year. Tuition for next year is set at $41,790, a four percent increase from last year, and is the lowest tuition increase the college has had since 2000. Despite this lower-than-average tuition increase, questions regarding the sustainability of the higher education model that have persisted for years now continues to be asked today.
