Missionaries Regain Second Place With Win Over Pioneers

Despite heading into halftime down three points, the Whitman men’s basketball team cruised to a 76-59 victory over the Lewis & Clark Pioneers Friday night. The win moves the Missionaries to 11-6 overall and 6-2 in the Northwest Conference, putting them in second place at the halfway point of the season.

Coming off a disappointing season last year, the Missionaries have made the necessary steps to ensure that it doesn't happen again this year. Even after an off-season of intense training, the team certainly has not slowed down since coming back from winter break.

Every year, the Whitman baseball team concludes its fall season by playing a friendly scrimmage against the program's alumni. The game offers alumni an opportunity to share stories with current players, reminisce with old friends and see if they can shake off the rust for one day each year to compete against young athletes at the top of their game.
