Last Saturday, Feb. 16, friends and members of Classics Club and Eta Sigma Phi, an honorary Classics society prepared ancient Roman and Greek cuisine for those interested in learning more about ancient culture. Cheese, olive oil, hummus, olives, poached pears and pita bread were some of the highlights at the feast. Twenty-three people attended for this merry event.

To get home, I travel by ferry through Washington's San Juan Islands. On one of these trips home, a man sitting on the ferry bench politely declined my request to take his picture, but a few minutes later, he got up and joined me at my seat, eyeing my Whitman sweatshirt. He asked me if I went to Whitman College.
